More on Shoes…

February 28, 2019 by Robert M. Conenello, DPM, FACFAS

As an evangelist on the “least possible shoe” mantra, the running community is split on 2 camps: minimalist design or maximum cushion. As a podiatry practitioner and a runner myself, I advocate for a holistic approach – “wear that right shoes for your signature gait (walking style) and for your activity”. I, along with this article from cdc.ca, strongly supports this study…

“… There is no high-level evidence that any running shoe design can prevent injuries”

Chris Napier, a physiotherapist at the University of British Columbia

I encourage runners and all athletes to consult your podiatry specialists to determine the best equipment, shoes,  that will complement your activity’s needs and requirements for your body. Preparedness and fore-thought goes along way in preventing injury, trauma, and long term pain.
